Belmont Basketball
The Varsity Basketball finished its 2008/2009 with a hard fought double overtime loss to Santee High School. The final score was 84 to 76. Justin Clark led the Sentinel scoring with 27 points before fouling out at the end of regulation. Moises Rodriguez had 8 assists to go with 8 rebounds and 7 points before fouling out late in the game. Shaquan Walters led the rebounding effort with 18 boards to go with 12 points including 6 of 7 from the free throw line. Kevin Altamiriano also had 10 boards and 4 points. Felton Thomas and Albert Sapath stepped up in overtime to keep the Sentinels close but in the end it was Santee who pulled the game out. Santee played hard the entire game and was on the receiving end of many questionable calls which resulted in both Belmont captains fouling out prior to overtime. Justin Clark and Moises Rodriguez received the Northern Conference Co-MVP Awards for 2008/09 and Shaquan Walters and Reynaldo Jacinto made the All League second team. We would like to thank all those who supported our basketball teams this year.
